DR. NICOLE V. LANG

Dr. Lang, a board certified pediatrician, graduated from Trinity College where she earned a BS in Biochemistry. She received her MD from the George Washington University Medical School. She completed her pediatric residency at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Lang is married and has one daughter. Dr. Lang enjoys tennis and swimming. She contributes to Washington Parent Magazine. She also participates periodically in medical missions in Africa. Her areas of special interests include advocacy, pediatric literacy, cultural competency and spirituality & medicine.

DR. AMY SAGE

Profile Photo of Dr. Sage

Dr. Amy M. Sage, a board certified pediatrician, graduated from Georgetown University with honors where she received her BS in Biology. She obtained a military scholarship for medical school and graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency training at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base California. Upon graduation, she was selected to remain on the training staff and served an additional year as the developmental pediatrician. She received the Meritorious Service Medal for implementing a comprehensive protocol for the evaluation of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder in children. She completed her military service obligation as a general pediatrician at Andrews Air Force Base. She served there for three years and received an additional Service Award for her work advocating for children with special needs. Dr. Sage is married with three small children and a cat. When not chasing her children, she enjoys running, reading and painting.

DR. GEORGE ASKEW

Dr. George L. Askew, a board certified pediatrician, is Deputy CEO of Voices for America’s Children, Founder of Docs For Tots and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He also formerly served as CEO and President of Jumpstart for Young Children. Prior to launching Docs For Tots he was a Fellow in the Soros Open Society Institute, Medicine as a Profession, Advocacy Fellowship for Physicians, working with ZERO TO THREE (National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families) in Washington, D.C. Between stints as a Soros Advocacy Fellow, Dr. Askew served as Chief of the Health and Disabilities Services Branch of the Head Start Bureau (HSB) and Medical Advisor to the Commissioner for the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. Just prior to coming to the Washington, DC area, he was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health (Maternal and Child Health) at the Boston University School of Medicine and Director of the Division of Community Pediatrics at the Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Askew was born and raised in inner-city Cleveland, Ohio. He was a Head Start graduate and later attended Harvard University and received a BA in Psychology and Social Relations emphasizing child development. Dr. Askew graduated from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. While a medical student he was selected as an American Medical Student Association International Health Fellow and spent his final year of medical school at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. After medical school he began residency training in Pediatrics and International Health at Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Class of 1992 Epidemic Intelligence Service.

Currently, Dr. Askew lives in Takoma Park, Maryland with his wife Katherine, daughter Morgan, and son Ian.

LISA R. HUNTER, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Profile Photo of Ms. Hunter, CPNP

Lisa Hunter, CPNP, received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Howard University College of Nursing in 1983. She continued her studies at the Catholic University of America where she received her Masters Degree in Nursing and Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1998.

Her experience as a nurse practitioner includes over twenty years of working in a variety of settings including private practice, public clinics and volunteer work. Additionally, she has experience in managing school based health clinics and serving as a consultant for health and safety inspections of government sponsored daycare centers. Ms. Hunter's professional interests lie in helping the needs of the underserved with a special focus on minority health disparities.

When not working, Ms. Hunter enjoys the company of her family and is an active member in her church, serving on several lay ministries. She enjoys cooking, gardening, theatre, and interior design.
